Course description: This is a one or two-day course, depending on your comfort/skill level on the water, taught on flatwater and Class I/II rivers in Eastern Tennessee. We will begin with a half-day of on-water instruction on flatwater, covering loading/unloading, boat carries, basic safety, strokes, launching and landing, and wet exits. After lunch, we will put on a moving water/Class I section river and paddle about 3 miles. This part of the course will include learning to maneuver your kayak in current. Depending on your comfort level on this section of the river, you may opt to paddle a step-up section of river on Sunday. This is a Class I/II section of the river that is about 5 miles long.
