NOC Guest Appreciation Festival (GAF)

Friday, September 23rd, 2016 at TBD

Location: Bryson City, North Carolina

This event is in the past.

This year we have added a club trip to the Nantahala Outdoor Center’s Guest Appreciation Festival (GAF). Both the standard Nantahala and the Upper Nantahala will be running. The Cascades will also be running for those in the club with class V skills.

There are many other activities at the festival including: Vendors from top name brands, Used gear sales, new gear sales, Guest Gear Marketplace (trade or sell your own used gear), kid’s activities, zip lining and bike trails, T-shirt design contest, And more…

River/Difficulty Descriptions: The standard Nantahala run is mostly class II+ with a class III at the very end of the run. The Upper Nantahala is a class III/IV run which is mostly continuous with faster water and bigger rapids and holes. Before getting on the Upper you should have a solid roll, eddy catching ability and probably some experience on the Ocoee. The Cascades…..well the Cascades are class V whitewater. I’ll be watching people run the Cascades from the river bank.

Contact trip leaders: Josh Helton at joshahe@yahoo.com and/or Hayward Warren at haywardwarren@charter.net, if you would like to attend.
