This event is in the past.
Dear Birmingham Canoe Club Members,
As many of you are aware, our property sustained significant damage from the floods on Christmas Day. There are a significant number of trees covering the beach, as well as along the path to the beach. Also the changing room has been destroyed. There have already been efforts to clear the debris and there is now a passable path to the beach. I want to thank all of you who have been a part of these efforts. However, there is still much work to be done. As there is still too much debris on the beach to hold our Feast on the Beach event on Friday Jan 1, we will be replacing the event with a cleanup. We will be holding the cleanup on Saturday Jan. 2 starting at 9am at the club property. I'm hoping for better participation since we won't be competing with New Year's Bowl games and sleeping in from New Years' Eve. We will still plan to paddle the river after getting some work done. The more people that come, the sooner we get to paddle!
We will be in need of chainsaws, so if you have a chainsaw please let the rest of us know by posting on the BCC Facebook page. If you don't have a chainsaw, we still need you.
Thanks to everyone for your help with this.
President, Birmingham Canoe Club
